We love creating these milk photo shoots! They stand out and create an amazing monochromatic look and there are a lot of different things that you can do in order to make yours stand out from the rest. We have seen a few failed attempts at doing the milk photo shoot, so we wanted to share some tips on how to create the shoot.
USE WHOLE MILK
Sorry to all those lactose intolerant ones out there. We use whole milk in the tub in order to fill the tub since it is thicker than skim or 2% milk. It helps fill out the tub easier. You don't need that much milk in order to create it. We only buy a couple of gallons to fill the tub and use water to fill the rest.
NEED A TUB OR A KIDDIE POOL
It may seem pretty obvious that you will need a tub, but if you don't have a tub, you can always use a kiddie pool in order to create the look. A tub would be the easiest since you are able to get warm water in the tub for the subject.
DO RESEARCH ON THE FLOWERS YOU WANT TO USE
Not all flowers will float at the top. Some of the flowers will fall to the bottom and then you just wasted your money on flowers that won't even show up in your photos. Fake flowers work well for the shoot and still look real for the photos.
GET A STOOL
If you are the photographer for the shoot, make sure that you have a stool. You want to be able to get a high angle to take the shots that you are looking for.
